Odathurai is a village panchayat in Bhavani block, Erode district, about thirty kilometres west of Erode and a few kilometres from Kavindapadi, in the same 638455 PIN code. It is a big village by the standards of the block — over nine thousand people and close to three thousand households in the 2011 census — with its own bank, post office and health centre, and the Bhavani river running close by.
The country around it is sugarcane, banana and jaggery land, with handloom mat weaving in the villages round Kavindapadi. River-side ground and farm-side water
Near the Bhavani river the water table is high and the soil is softer; further up it is harder ground with a borewell as the only supply. Which one your plot sits on decides the footing depth, whether a deep sump makes sense and how the plinth is waterproofed. We dig a trial pit before we quote.
A godown that stays dry through the harvest
Cane, banana and jaggery country needs dry storage.
